Letter to President

Letter to the President
Pollan’s proposals are not out of the reach of what we can do and it would help with our current crisis. His idea of bring America back to the way farming used to be when we did not have to use herb killers and pesticides: had to feed cows corn so they will get bigger faster. He proposes that we bring livestock back to the farm and use more human and animal power than mechanical power that uses oil. That is a great idea even though that would bring food prices up but it would give better quality and better variety back into the stores. Plants and the environment would be much healthier and our carbon footprint would be reduced tenfold. Our culture needs to wake up and see what they are eating so they know to change because right now everybody does not know what they are consuming or do not care enough to. The current way we are doing things is harming mother earth and needs to be changed. Animal cruelty is not right and we should not continue to take advantage of defenseless animals to make a buck, we as humans should take care of what feeds us. We need to stop passing the buck and make sure the buck stops here, so that in the future we do not have to worry about more pressing issues like fast spreading diseases and diseases that have no cure because they built up an immunity to antibiotics. We as humans need to return to what was in place before the industrialization of “farming” if we can even call it that now. As Pollan is saying we need to get back to our roots and actually give the people what they need.

Food we eat

Consider the Lobster has to be one of the interesting pieces I have read. I am not say thing because how it is written but how the information is put out there for the reader. To me the author of this piece contradicts himself a lot and uses a lot of sarcasm in his piece. The fact that lobster used to be a lower class food and now is a couple steps down from caviar just amazed me. He also stated that lobsters can grow to be as big as 15 pounds that is incredible. But he ultimately kills the Maine Lobster Festival by saying that it was basically a glorified country fair with a food associated with it.
From the movie even though I have seen it before, opened my eyes again to what is really happens. It is very true about the round-up ready soy beans we had to switch over to those or we would have been sued. Even if you did not plant them cross pollination gets that gene in the beans that are not round-up ready and that company knows that. That is the reason they patented that gene to screw over farmers to sell their land so they could buy them out and have an empire over all things green.

Food matter

Food matters because of the obvious one it is a necessity for survival.  Other than that the different food you eat is determine of what you’re feeling, how much time you have, or what type of social gathering you are at. If people look back in history food has been the main point in some cultures. For example on the island of Great Britain there are different nations: England being the biggest with the most money so they eat the best and the healthiest. What people did not realize that England was feeding there mules and animals what the other nations on that islands were eating for normal meals. For example people in Ireland ate oats and thoughts it was a great meal, which it was it made them bigger and stronger, but that is what the English were feeding their donkeys.
Food also matters in the social part. I know when I had nothing to do with my friends we always went and got food it always seemed to pull people closer together than anything else.  Food brings joy to everyone it “meats”. During this past summer I tried to spend as much time with my aunt and uncle as I possibly could. They would always take me to amazing places to eat. The best part was the conversation and the food. Everything we got we got to share, and that was awesome we could discuss how amazing each bit was and which combinations were the best. Food this summer shaped my whole view on my aunt and uncle. Food has magical powers to influence peoples lives.

Music for mix tape

Our God- Chris Tomlin
I don’t know of you realize this but when you sang that song for worship, in the beginning when I started to go, was when I really started to get into you. I don’t know what happened but something you did during that song sparked my interest in you. You are so strong in your faith and that is very attractive. I know that the lyrics are about God but, then I began to hear the words “ there is no one like you, none like you” I realized that if I don’t do something that I would lose someone who is not like anyone else who is so special there is only one. As I was thinking I looked back up at you and I knew that something special was going to happen between us but I did not know then what I know now.

Heaven- Italobrothers
“Baby you are all that I want when you are lying here in my arms, I find it hard to believe that we are in heaven, love is all that I need and I found it there in your heart, it isn’t too hard to see that we are in heaven.” The Italobrothers are famous for the techno love songs I know that you hate my techno music but this really hits me. Those words are the exact thoughts I have every single time we are together, I find myself losing track of time just talking to you. I can feel the love every time I am with you and you never make things boring. When you are lying in my arms nothing else matters and that is the main point that I am saying.

Music

I believe that all music is contextual. When you are felling happy you play a happy song. But when you feel sad you play a sad song. It always seems like when I am angry nothing can shake my anger so I play heavy metal. And when I hear other types of songs I just get even angrier. That is the same for all the other moods. When someone is in a neutral mood however; normally one would be put in a mood of which the music they are listening to. For example, if somebody listens to classical they become relaxed and calm.
People change their music to what they want people to see them as. I do not; I still listen to the same music that I listen to in or out of public. People who try to hide what they listen to will listen to the normal popular music and then in private jam out to all the music that they don’t want people to judge them on.
Music for me sparks memories that pull emotions from nowhere. For example, when I hear the song I Like it Like That by Hot Chelle Rea brings up the memory of back home driving with the window down chilling with the radio on, and talking to my girl. Music is a way to view memories and my most vivid memories are the ones that involve music. Music is the gateway to many things.

5,10,15,18

5,10,15,18
The young age of five I was listening to the great and awesome Disney music. For example the Tiki Room would be my song of choice. It was upbeat and put me in a good mood. That was all the songs I listened to. The happy songs from Barney to the Jungle beat, was my extent of music privileges given to me by my parents. But that’s all that I wanted when I was five and that shaped my growing up.
When I turned ten, my parents were still a big influence on my music listening career. I was listening to whatever my father liked because at a young age I wanted to be like my father so, whatever he liked I liked so I could impress him. But, as I reached the age of 15 my taste in music did not change. I still liked the same stuff my father was listening to. I started to have my friends like that type of music as well. 1980’s rock is the genre and it is awesome. Some new genres hit me now and it is called techno, dub step, classical, don’t get me wrong I still love 1980’s rock but the other music is starting to overrun my love for the 1980’s rock music. That is where I stand on 5,10,15,18.
