Ban High School Football ::from the Chicago Tribune

This piece was an interesting because the whole authors purpose is to convince the reader i.e. me that high school football should be banned just like smoking is banned. He is trying to make us all believe that high school football players don’t know what they are doing when they sign up for football. What I am trying to say is that if he is going to convince us that football is very dangerous and many people get brain injuries from is he should just be asking us to not drive and not to do anything else that has a risk factor. I was a high school football player and I turned out just fine.
The audience for this piece was directed towards parents and the older generation. I say that because it has a bunch of warnings about why the child should not be allowed to do football. I still believe that the parents if they cared about their child they would let he/she make their own decisions and tell them about the risks.
The voice of this piece is to warn and to try to scare people not to play football or the ban it entirely. I say this because it show in many cases that football players have had early signs and diagnosed with brain related injuries.
I don’t believe in my opinion that this piece was effect at all to convince me that high school football should be banned. Because the players know the risk and love to hurt people so I don’t think it would convince anyone who had a head on their shoulders. I do not believe also in my opinion that it had any effect on the target audience.
