Lessons from the teachers strike
Teacher’s strike in Chicago because of standardized testing. This is argument in the article stated that teacher striking should not be allowed because it harms the children. If the teachers can’t help the kids the way they need to then it is hurting the kids regardless. The writer gave the reason for that because when teachers rebel together not a lot of people support them. Individually teachers are great but together they are terrible stated the article.  The teachers strike against standardized test which they have a right because everyone is different and teachers are the same way. Teachers teach at different paces and when a school has standard tests it causes teachers to go beyond there set plans and even if the class as a whole is not getting a certain subjects.
The teachers need to do whatever it takes to get the knowledge to the children and not care about their own problems but worry about those of the younger generation. That’s how schools should run their programs if that happened there would be no strikes and nothing to worry about but the care and importance of the children. Unfortunately for the schools they are greedy and have become selfish. That is a shame because if the schools really focus on their mission to improve the generation after them then there would be no such problems about standardized testing or strikes about money or benefits. It would change the world if education came first.

Warning Signs
Have you ever had that sinking feeling like you should not be at a certain place at that time? Well I experienced this far too many times but I had not gotten into trouble. Where I live is a busy shipping route and there are semi-trucks that blow through the stop sign right outside of my house all the time. Just from living there for so long I could tell when something bad is going to happen or when it would get really close to happening which was normally the case.  But there was this one day everybody was in a hurry and running that stop sign, I knew something was up.
You can imagine what happens when a tractor trailer runs a stop sign and collides with a yellow hummer first generation. It was not pretty the hummer was t-boned and flipped and the semi landed on its side. It was terrifying the worst part was since I am a lifeguard I had to tend to these people till help arrived. Luckily everyone in the accident was unharmed because they were wearing their seatbelts. The moral of the story always wear your seatbelts, because if they didn’t I would not be the man I am today because I would be scarred from that crash.

Family Dinner
This family dinner I remember the most because it was the last family dinner I had with my Grandmother. My grandmother was very important to me and she was the people lady I have ever met in my life. She cared for me and she loved me, and I miss her still to this day.
It was Christmas in 2006, I don’t know the exact date but it was around Christmas, and all of my mom’s side of the family gets together and has a family meal. It was at my grandmother’s house like it normally was. We were talking and having a good old time then grandma and my cousins bring out the food. All ways when the food comes out everybody gets dead silent and focuses on the food. My grandmother you see was the best cook around. Always her food was the greatest and everything she did was awesome.  The thing that made the meal so special was that out of everybody my grandma sat by me, her first male grandchild and the first male born in the family for three generations. My grandma was the best and I love her so much.  Still to this day I have a hard time talking about her because she meant so much to me. It did not matter what happened at that meal or the conversation that went on it was the fact that it was the last time I was with my grandmother while she was still healthy and alive.

PAYING ATTENTION
Every night around 7:00, I go to this thing called Navy Study tours. At this Navy study tour’s all the freshman midshipmen all go to Surge Hall to study.  People from all over the country come here for two things, one to graduate from Virginia Tech, and two to get commissioned to the United States Navy. The Navy Study Tours or NST’s is very different than that of normal corps life. It is better.  You can relax and listen to music while doing your homework or studying. But as I look around I still see people just gazing around and not getting anything done, which that makes no sense to me because I am taking full advantage of the time given to me. People have different values I guess. When everything is calm and piece full and people not trying to rip your head off, it is really nice. It is a great stress relief just to come down from upper quad and you can do whatever you want. The civilians of this school have no idea of what actually happens. The great break of NST’s you can see the facial expression of your other buds and be able to communicate with them is a fantastic feeling. Being able to pay attention to something without trying to look at it while staring strait ahead, that is the best part of paying attention because you truly see what happens instead of just rushing through life without have time to stop and slow down for a while and I know the life style I chose is not the best for paying attention.

Work: when asked to write about that subject my mind goes to a job. Something that gets you a prize for working is a job. For example, there are many prizes for working like money, or a goal that you achieve.  Most people work because they have to but a select few actually enjoy their jobs.  People who have a job think work is boring and stupid, but people who work they think that their job is awesome and can’t wait to do it each day. I think that is what American’s have to start doing. People who just have a “job” don’t really do things to their highest abilities but people who work and love their job work hard to improve and to make themselves and their company the absolute best that they can make.
There is also another type of work, is work out for example you are not getting a monetary amount paid to you. You are getting what you get out of it. So, work has many meanings and it is hard to describe. But ultimately work has to be done properly or nothing can function in this society. And like it has to be done, it also has to have all parts filled even if it is the bad work. That is what work it.

A literacy narrative to me it seems like one person fights through all odds to overcome their challenge. In both passages it talked about reading. Like how both taught themselves how to read and write through all odds. Then it seems like they share their point of view and describe their point of view from what they had just learned. For example in the Malcolm X story he begins to describe how awesome the dictionary is, then he starts to tell about slavery and how bad the whites are.
The audience of this type piece is everybody who is trying to do something but don’t think they can. I say that because it is supposed to be inspirational to all because the people who write these stories fought through tougher things than most people do.  And it just proves that if there is always a will then there is a way.
The voice of the entire type has to be inspirational. Because the values and drive that the people who write these stories are beyond anyone else’s and they set out to prove that they could do it no matter what the cost. Also the whole stories have a lesion that they learned and they share it with the reader.
Basically the writer’s purpose was to teach and share their findings with others.
