Slogans

It is better when you do it yourself.
This is effective because the eatery that we came up with is a do it yourself type of place and it provokes a sense of pride with some people.

You know what you really want.
This just simply states that only you know what you want because it is true you can tell someone but they don’t always understand.

Can’t believe it is not heaven.
This one is for the people who eat at our place will know that it is an amazing place and fantastic food, so it is the best.

ADS

Companies have different ways of attracting consumers into their businesses but the main way they use advertisements.  Advertisements can work in many ways either to draw a customer into a single product or the whole idea the store is selling. For example, Starbucks advertises their company for their coffee, but they also run special commercials about their seasonal coffee’s and specials. This is how they bring them in for special and times near the holidays, people look forward to their pumpkin spice coffee every year and it brings in business for them. Most companies use positive advertisements to draw people in but some can just familiar images on a screen and everyone who has ever watched an ad by that company would know what it is.

Food for thought

New Experience
It was five thirty in the morning not even early enough for the sun to come out and my father wakes me up and I get dressed and ready for my first hunt. Today was the beginning of rabbit season and we were not going to miss our shot. We go to the woods and look around for hours and when we were just about to give up I see a rabbit just ahead by a log and I look towards my father and he gave me the thumbs up. Slowly, I put a shell into my 20 gauge shotgun and pull back the hammer. I have the rabbit in my sights; I put my finger on the trigger, bang. A shot rang out and the rabbit jumps a few feet it is wounded I grazed my first bunny. My father moves like lighting and darts towards the creature, he grabs the barrel of his gun and hits the rabbit with the stock. Finally, a rabbit.

Acquired Tastes
My mother’s side of the family is from Switzerland and being from Switzerland the brought their cooking style as well. They also brought so many traditions that are hundreds of years in the making. Though there is no live relative that came over from Switzerland I did get a chance to know my grandmother before a battle with cancer took her away from me. That woman could make any bad meal a great one, she knew the ins and outs of cooking of which she passed down. The main dish that I loved to eat was her scalloped cabbage. It is just a wonderful dish that was perfected in Switzerland and then brought to America and ultimately to my stomach.

Letter to President

Letter to the President
Pollan’s proposals are not out of the reach of what we can do and it would help with our current crisis. His idea of bring America back to the way farming used to be when we did not have to use herb killers and pesticides: had to feed cows corn so they will get bigger faster. He proposes that we bring livestock back to the farm and use more human and animal power than mechanical power that uses oil. That is a great idea even though that would bring food prices up but it would give better quality and better variety back into the stores. Plants and the environment would be much healthier and our carbon footprint would be reduced tenfold. Our culture needs to wake up and see what they are eating so they know to change because right now everybody does not know what they are consuming or do not care enough to. The current way we are doing things is harming mother earth and needs to be changed. Animal cruelty is not right and we should not continue to take advantage of defenseless animals to make a buck, we as humans should take care of what feeds us. We need to stop passing the buck and make sure the buck stops here, so that in the future we do not have to worry about more pressing issues like fast spreading diseases and diseases that have no cure because they built up an immunity to antibiotics. We as humans need to return to what was in place before the industrialization of “farming” if we can even call it that now. As Pollan is saying we need to get back to our roots and actually give the people what they need.

Food we eat

Consider the Lobster has to be one of the interesting pieces I have read. I am not say thing because how it is written but how the information is put out there for the reader. To me the author of this piece contradicts himself a lot and uses a lot of sarcasm in his piece. The fact that lobster used to be a lower class food and now is a couple steps down from caviar just amazed me. He also stated that lobsters can grow to be as big as 15 pounds that is incredible. But he ultimately kills the Maine Lobster Festival by saying that it was basically a glorified country fair with a food associated with it.
From the movie even though I have seen it before, opened my eyes again to what is really happens. It is very true about the round-up ready soy beans we had to switch over to those or we would have been sued. Even if you did not plant them cross pollination gets that gene in the beans that are not round-up ready and that company knows that. That is the reason they patented that gene to screw over farmers to sell their land so they could buy them out and have an empire over all things green.

Food matter

Food matters because of the obvious one it is a necessity for survival.  Other than that the different food you eat is determine of what you’re feeling, how much time you have, or what type of social gathering you are at. If people look back in history food has been the main point in some cultures. For example on the island of Great Britain there are different nations: England being the biggest with the most money so they eat the best and the healthiest. What people did not realize that England was feeding there mules and animals what the other nations on that islands were eating for normal meals. For example people in Ireland ate oats and thoughts it was a great meal, which it was it made them bigger and stronger, but that is what the English were feeding their donkeys.
Food also matters in the social part. I know when I had nothing to do with my friends we always went and got food it always seemed to pull people closer together than anything else.  Food brings joy to everyone it “meats”. During this past summer I tried to spend as much time with my aunt and uncle as I possibly could. They would always take me to amazing places to eat. The best part was the conversation and the food. Everything we got we got to share, and that was awesome we could discuss how amazing each bit was and which combinations were the best. Food this summer shaped my whole view on my aunt and uncle. Food has magical powers to influence peoples lives.
